Down Time
This past week we traveled to Michigan to visit family and friends for Christmas. I planned on putting up numerous posts of pictures, etc. for your viewing pleasure.
Alas, my notebook’s power cord decided to call it quits on Christmas Day!
I searched the local electronics stores in the Grand Rapids area for a replacement, but in vain. So, I’m only able post from the library’s computer. Ack!
Lord willing we’ll be up and running toward the end of next week.
Happy New Year!

Protecting the Farm
Josiah’s been pretty creative the last couple of days
The thing you need to keep in mind with little boys is to remember that they’re protecting you from the bad guys! We always feel safer knowing Josiah’s around, especially when he’s wearing his, er, helmet?!

Speaking of Reading, Part 2….
Lest, in view of my previous post, it be thought that the subject matter of our reading is wanting, I thought I’d share a challenging reminder from the Puritan Richard Baxter, whose work The Reformed Pastor I’m reading again (the first time was the summer of 1998):
The ministerial work must be carried on purely for God and the salvation of souls, not for any private ends of our own. A wrong end makes all the work bad as from us, how good soever it may be in its own nature. It is not serving God, but ourselves, if we do it not for God, but for ourselves (p. 111).
While Baxter specifically writes with pastors in view, it is a truth applicable to every believer.

Speaking of Reading…
Doing my part to encourage the man-cub
Just think, someday this same diligent, studious attention could be focused on Greek and Hebrew!!!
