A Ministry "First"
It really doesn’t take to long to experience such “firsts,” as pretty much everything is new at the outset while serving as a pastor.
But tonight was one I hadn’t anticipated.
While visiting in the homes of some of our folks, my last stop brought me to an old farmhouse in Rome township. It was getting late (around 10:30 or so), and while Dave and I were talking on his back porch (with bats flying around us) his black cat brought in this mouse it had just killed and then proceeded to eat it right at our feet.
Providentially I just happened to have a new cell phone with a spiffy camera, so I snapped a quick picture of this unique “ministry” experience. Only after the cat was throwing back the final remains of the hapless mouse did I remember that my new cell phone can also take videos, complete with sound.
Rats, eh?

Sunday Afternoon Nap
We enjoy our time of fellowship after each service; sometimes we get out later than normal. Today we left at around 1:40, so Lydia decided to get a jump on her nap. Pretty cute.

Owwww!
That’s the only word for this, eh? (Click on the pix to enlarge)
Josiah and Andy were wrestling, and they both headed the same direction. Josiah came out the loser, I’m afraid!

Kitchen-Aid
Ashley’s helping out at Peniel Bible Camp during this week of family camp. She’s working in the kitchen. Here she is with friend Sarai D. when I dropped them off early Monday morning.
I’m sure they’re working hard, enjoying themselves, and are probably pretty hot!

Recent Activities
Things have been busy on the farm for quite some time, so I thought I’d take a few posts to bring ya’ll up to date. Here’s a basic outline of future posts (with pictures, of course) that we’ll offer:
We started the summer out as the Traveling Greenfield’s first to the Grand Rapids, MI area for two same-day-events: a wedding of one of Trisha’s sisters and funeral of Dan’s grandma. A few weeks later found us in Philadelphia, PA for another wedding, Trisha’s brother. It seems like there were some other events to report from our travelogue, so I’ll have to consult with the other Boss.
The older four kids (five, if you include me
) have been going Peniel Bible Camp for their particular age groups. I’m going to try to get each camper to post something about their particular week.
During this entire time – and really since last fall – we’ve been working on putting two bedrooms downstairs. I’ll document this ongoing development in several stages: framing and electrical, drywall, painting, flooring (in process), and doors and trim (yet to occur). This project has got to get completed by the time school starts in one month, as the kids’ schooling (at Greenfield Christian Academy) will begin in their respective “classrooms.”
Of course, there’s been the ongoing work with our church family and working to spread the Word throughout our area.
So, that’s at least a baker’s dozen worth of posts, eh?
Thank you for your continued prayers for our family and the work which God has called us to our here. Keep praying for rapid spread of the gospel (2 Thess 3:1-2) and maturing of Christ’s people (Eph 4:11-16).
