Its Friday!
March 7, 2008
We really look forward to Fridays! Just a warning to our suburban and city friends and family–this post might make you roll your eyes a bit!
School is normally finished around 2:00-2:30. By that time the crew is ready to go! Where?
Well, you need to understand that there’s not much as far as shopping venues go here in Orwell. There’s the Golden Dawn grocery store, Family Dollar, Dollar General, a Circle K convenience store, and the Shell gas station. Oh yeah, I forgot the Drug Store as well.
Thus, on Fridays the crew loads up to go to Middlefield, a good 15-20 minute drive southwest of Orwell, and incidentally home of the fourth largest Amish population in the USA. First stop, the library:
Orwell has its own library, but it didn’t take long for the farmhands to pretty much exhaust its riches. So they enjoy spending a good hour at the Middlefield library, literally loading up on piles of books.
Next stop is grocery shopping at the Middlefield Sav-A-Lot and Wal-Mart. While Trish procures the needed food for the hard-working farmhands, they enjoy shopping and looking about.
The Middlefield Wal-Mart definitely accommodates their Amish customers!
Remember, I told you your eyes might roll a bit! When the highlight of your week is going to the library and Wal-Mart, you know you live out in the country!
If you haven’t rolled your eyes yet, maybe this newspaper clipping I came across will do the trick. It explains how some feel about going to Wal-Mart–
Isn’t that a hoot?
I’m just imagining Alyson Peterson’s response right now [heh heh]

Whoa-Wait a Minute!! DO NOT pull me into your blog like that! What did I EVER do to you?! I have to admit you do know me all to well, Dan. I WAS rolling my eyes as I was reading about the highlights of your day-espeically since I just spent last night and this morning running all over Tim-Buck-To shopping like a crazy person!
I have to give it to you though-reading your posts usually make me laugh out loud at my desk. Thanks for the laugh in between doing laundry and cleaning my house-since I am behind in those things since I have been shopping…and not at Wal-Mart, or for that matter, not the Dollar Palace either
(hee-hee)

Alyson, Alyson, Alyson.
If you lived out in the country you’d get all your laundry and house cleaning done instead of running around shopping [heh heh]
In fact, if you lived out in the country you could do your laundry, house cleaning, and get your shopping done if you just went to the Dollar Store, ’cause you wouldn’t have to get all dressed up [bwa ha ha ha haaaa!]

Well, maybe I will let Andrew know that if he wants to curtail my shopping adventures, he needs to move me out to “the country” otherwise look out Wal-Mart-cuz I ‘m all dressed up and ready to shop !
