My Office This Afternoon
This was the view from my “office” this afternoon–any guesses where it is?

Here’s some “extra-curricular” photos from a few weeks ago. We have a new Verizon tower practically in our backyard, so I took Josiah and Lydia to take a look at it:
I’m sure Andy wouldn’t mind having that for his ham radio tower!

Actuator Stuff
Okay, don’t get excited, subscribers to Greener-Fields. This is for my infamous brother, Tom, who’s helping fix the Suburban this weekend! The last pix, however, is of a farm hand’s recent “activities”

I Passed!
Today I had to take my motorcycle driving skills test. I was a bit nervous, but thankfully I maneuvered successfully through the course.
What does this mean? It means the State of Ohio has given me their stamp of approval to ride, and that means look out!
When we picked up my scooter in Michigan three years ago, we thought it deserved a name. As I’m a pastor, we decided Gideon would be the appropriate moniker–that’s right, the Gideon of Sheffey. Despite the image portrayed by the BJU video, they left out some of his defining traits, namely, tree-hugging (literally), honey-loving, and shouting (characteristic of Methodists during the 1800s).
Well, I don’t hug trees or shout, and I’m certainly not a Methodist. I like honey, but not quite to the degree Preacher Sheffey did. I guess all we’ve got in common is our “ride.”

Showers of Blessing
After bringing in the church sign Monday afternoon, I zipped over on my scooter to see the Carlson’s. The drive was beautiful and I wasn’t alone!

While spending some time talking with Denise and Erika, I could hear the downpour outside. After awhile it stopped, and so took that as my cue to hit the road. On the way home this ominous sight was coming from the east towards me.
Needless to say, I got a little wet!

What’s Up?
I’ve been busy working on our church’s weblog lately, and thought I’d take a minute of your time to invite you to take a gander over there.
Unlike many church websites, ours is not “static”–it changes as I add new posts. I’ve always felt that for the time I put into preparing messages, it’d be great if somehow I could also put them in print to put another tool in the hands of my people and to help spread the Word. So that’s what I’ve been doing there, giving basic written summaries of each my messages.
Check out the front page of our church, and you’ll see that when you click on a particular service you will be taken to a summary of what preached then. My desire is to keep these updated, so check back periodically to see what we’ve been learning from God’s Word
I’ve also been working on putting up some past notes, such as:
- Why Christians Need Each Other
- Profitably Learning From the Bible
- Making Christ Preeminent by Spirit-Led Living
I know, this isn’t as cute as pictures of Lydia or the other girls or as funny as Josiah’s latest escapades. Sorry!
Here’s one of Lydia and Grandpa Greenfield, who stopped by for a quick visit after a business trip to Florida:
Grandpa makes and sells antennas and other things that go with that kind of stuff (you can tell I didn’t go into the “family business”
). If you need any of that “kind of stuff,” go over to his webpages: www.tennadyne.com and www.cubex.com.
