Poor Josiah

It seems all my recent posts have been about Josiah. Maybe that’s because he gives us the most interesting, blog-worthy things to post!

Poor  Josiah–he’s on his way to get a shot. Trish told him about a half hour before when she gave him some Tylenol. He’s been bawling ever since. You really feel bad for the little guy. He sounds like he’s on his way to the gallows! :-(

The reason he responds this way is the last time he had a shot he was in absolute terror. He stiffened up big time, which only makes a shot hurt even more.

By the time you read this the deed will be done (they just left–still crying!) but you could pray that little man will recover quickly!

Obviously the above picture is not Josiah–I didn’t have the heart to ask him to pose for one on his way out the door! :-)

…is my two front teeth!

As previously predicted, Josiah did “lose” his other tooth by Christmas.

Josiah made a deal that if he allowed his other tooth to be pulled out he could have a glass of Diet Coke. The little mercenary. :-)

We could also say that Josiah now officially fits in to our little corner of Appalachia!

All I want for Christmas

He’ll probably lose the other by Christmas!

7 Year Old Theology

Josiah and Lydia were playing around in the living room while I was reading a book, and Lydia proclaimed while standing on the couch (a no-n0) “I’m the pastor, and you’re the congregation” (that’s pretty funny in itself).

Josiah’s response–

You can’t be a pastor because there’s no such thing as lady pastors.

Right Dad?

I said,

Well, Josiah, there are ladies who are pastors, but that doesn’t mean they should be. They’re wrong and their churches are wrong too.

He replied with,

“Why? Is it because men are better than women?”

That gave me a grin, but it’s obviously not right. So, I summarized Paul’s teaching in 1 Timothy 2, asking him who God created first. “Adam,” he said. “Right, bud. God wants men to be pastors because God created them first.” (Remember, I’m talking to a 7 year old here, not an adult!)

I asked another question:

Who’s the head of the home?

Response:

The man is.

Me:

Right. But why?

The 7 year old theologian’s answer to why the man is the head of the home, given with absolute genuineness:

Because he gives better spankings.

I’ll have to email that to my seminary professors to add to their arsenal! :-)

My Office This Afternoon

This was the view from my “office” this afternoon–any guesses where it is?

Here’s some “extra-curricular” photos from a few weeks ago. We have a new Verizon tower practically in our backyard, so I took Josiah and Lydia to take a look at it:

I’m sure Andy wouldn’t mind having that for his ham radio tower! :-)
