Hannah’s Cast

I always wondered how a cast is “put on” a broken appendage. We had a front row seat yesterday afternoon as they applied one to Hannah’s forearm.

First, a fabric sleeve was put on:

Next, her forearm was wrapped with strands of soft something or other:

Third, white strips of fiberglass were applied; this stuff was warm and sticky when applied, and soon hardened:

Last,  strips of “hot-pink” fiberglass encompassed her whole forearm:

Hannah was desiring a tie-dyed color pattern; I vetoed that outright (no hippies in the Greenfield home! ), but they didn’t have that anyway. So she went with something that will definitely glow in the dark!

I emailed the xrays of Hannah’s arm to her, so she’ll undoubtedly post those on her blog. Pretty cool stuff.

New Spectacles

Hannah’s eyes finally succumbed to the fate of everyone on both sides of the family.

Blurred vision is no fun, but new fancy specs can add some excitement to the change!

BTW, the hat Hannah’s wearing is to be understood as “Providentially Blessed” not “Lucky”
