Anyone Out There???
Actually you’re probably wondering if anyone is here!!!
I’ll offer no excuses–I’ve failed to keep ya’ll updated of life on the farm. Lord willing I’ll put up a SINGLE post that will bring you up to date on everything that’s happened since March 12!
For now, I’m going to redirect you to my blog where I posted a survey of current church activity. Please check out our efforts and be praying!
Thanks!
****UPDATE****
I forgot to mention that two of the farm hands have entered the blogging field–
I’m sure they would enjoy your visits and comments!

Proof Positive
There may be some concerned souls out there that may not think of the country as a “mission field.” That’s an easy–and probably common–misconception. Allegedly country folk are more conservative (which is true) and God-fearing (which isn’t true).
To help better educate your view of the need in rural America for new churches to be planted, I give you this piece of evidence, gleaned from yesterday’s work:

September Scenery
Here’s some pix taken while spreading the Word today–
An Amish school with lavatories [heh heh]–
And then home, to grill up some Slovenian sausages, courtesy of the Carlson farm–
Mmm, mmm, good!

Ever have one of those days where you had the whole day planned out and only were able to get to some of the stuff? That was today. Oh well. If you don’t set something to shoot for you usually hit the target, eh?
A new prayer update was sent out, which I anticipate/hope to do weekly. If you didn’t get this emailed to you, email me and I’ll send you one. Prep for tonight’s Bible study and prayer meeting: part 3 of our Biblical Evangelism lessons, hymns, and items for prayer handouts. A number of administrative items too mundane to list; phone calls, emails, etc etc.
I hitched a ride with Trace to pick up Jes–it’s good to have the ol’ truck back in the parking lot. Hopefully the new fuel pump and sending unity will improve the 15.5 mpg we typically experienced–right!!!!
One interesting email involved a question of ecclesiastical separation. The Q&A isn’t Greener-Fields fare, so you can it at Di Sheiyah.
The highlight of my “work week” is our Wednesday Prayer and Bible Study. Our typical service has us singing several hymns, opening prayer by one of our men, opportunity for testimonies or questions from the week’s Bible readings, a 25 minute message, and a good 30-45 minutes of corporate prayer.
One of the men shared a great testimony from our Bible reading in Nahum this week. He said that after reading it he thought about those who think that God is only love and there isn’t a hell or judgment–that this would be a good book for them to read to straighten them out! Amen, brother.
By the time we got home (9:15), we’re tired, but more work remains: getting the little kids ready for bed. All are tucked in, and this is getting posted. Good night!

A Ministry "First"
It really doesn’t take to long to experience such “firsts,” as pretty much everything is new at the outset while serving as a pastor.
But tonight was one I hadn’t anticipated.
While visiting in the homes of some of our folks, my last stop brought me to an old farmhouse in Rome township. It was getting late (around 10:30 or so), and while Dave and I were talking on his back porch (with bats flying around us) his black cat brought in this mouse it had just killed and then proceeded to eat it right at our feet.
Providentially I just happened to have a new cell phone with a spiffy camera, so I snapped a quick picture of this unique “ministry” experience. Only after the cat was throwing back the final remains of the hapless mouse did I remember that my new cell phone can also take videos, complete with sound.
Rats, eh?
