Visitors to Greener-Fields from Two-Penny-Land

Well, we here at the farm appreciate the additional visitors we’ve had from our brother up north, Chris Anderson. Today at his blog, My Two Cents, he let the cat out of the bag regarding our feeble attempt at blogging.

Chris mentioned that if I write anything serious, it would be worth your time to read it. Well, (ha ha ha), there’s not much serious action here at the farm–we’re afraid that it’s more like a funny farm (huh huh). We write about the things that are of real significance and importance to the world around us, like….

Seriously though (did I just say that? :-)), this blog helps our family (who live in western Michigan) and supporting churches keep up on what’s going on way out here in the middle of nowhere.

Someday I may make an attempt to blog more seriously–maybe I’ll call it “A Day Late and Two Cents Short” or some other catchy title!

Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Josiah vs. Van Door

You’ve heard of the Rumble in the Jungle and the Thrilla in Manila, well, today Josiah tangled with our 1997 Chevy Astro.

“In this corner, weighing in at 45 pounds, wearing the yellow shirt, blue trunks, and light-up shoes, hailing from Orwell, Ohio, the man-cub, the one to beat, the warrior of Greener-fields, Jumpin’ Josiah!!!

“In the other corner, weighing in at over 3000 pounds, wearing a forest-green skin tight jersey with tan trunks, hailing from Deeetroit, MI, the family truckster, The Mean Green Machine!!!”

After the dust and smoke cleared, the man-cub learned that he’s got a few years to go before taking on someone that much bigger than himself.

Josiah got 6 stitches–don’t ask what happened to the van! 🙂

Fun in the Kitchen

Ashley has had two friends over for the last couple of days, Elizabeth and Sarai Dahlhausen. Tonight they made blackberry buckle, and it was very good!

Field Work for Tuesday, August 15

I spent several hours calling on people who had recently moved into our area. During my ride I came across something really interesting that gives Paul’s prayer in 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2 some personal application! 😉

I’m not kidding about this sign either, and I didn’t hang around long. Anyone who calls himself an “Old Physco” [his spelling] and “Uncle Cracker” is not someone to mess with.

I also happened upon a different sort of farm on Crosby Cook Road, just east of Roaming Shores:

Ministering the Word Together

Pastor Dave Saxton and some of the folks from Falls Berean Bible Church came out Saturday, Aug 12 to help us with some canvassing. We really appreciated their willingness to give most of their Saturday to help sow the Word.

Afterwards we had a time of fellowship in our backyard, with lots pizza, of course. Pastors are supposed to set the example and be leaders, and Pastor Saxton didn’t let us down! Here Pastor Dave shows us how a militant fundamentalist deals with a slice of Supreme

In fact, Pastor Dave liked it so much, he tried sneaking off with a whole box! 🙂

It was great to see some good friends from Inter-City Baptist Church who are now members at Falls Berean, Terry & Cheryl Reese

Les & Jim gave the horseshoes a workout…

Thanks Falls Berean for your help! God bless you!
