Chartering Service
We had our chartering service this past Sunday, and it was a great day!
Here’s the whole group (click on any picture to enlarge it, or click here for a higher resolution picture):
Here are pix from the service (my Mom took them for us, thanks Mom!):
…and signing the charter:
Hannah’s Cast
I always wondered how a cast is “put on” a broken appendage. We had a front row seat yesterday afternoon as they applied one to Hannah’s forearm.
First, a fabric sleeve was put on:
Next, her forearm was wrapped with strands of soft something or other:
Third, white strips of fiberglass were applied; this stuff was warm and sticky when applied, and soon hardened:
Last, strips of “hot-pink” fiberglass encompassed her whole forearm:
Hannah was desiring a tie-dyed color pattern; I vetoed that outright (no hippies in the Greenfield home! 🙂 ), but they didn’t have that anyway. So she went with something that will definitely glow in the dark!
I emailed the xrays of Hannah’s arm to her, so she’ll undoubtedly post those on her blog. Pretty cool stuff.
Recent Events with the Greenfields
Okay, the kids have been riding me about getting this thing back on track. I’ll see about that, but thought I’d throw a post together of recent events.
Last week we were out in Grand Rapids, MI visiting family. It was a good week, even though it rained 3 out of 5 days. Meagan has blogged about it a bit, so check out her blog.
Thursday we went to see my nephew’s baseball game, and Hannah broke her wrist while goofing around with her brothers and cousins. She’ll get her cast on this afternoon. Hannah now has the distinction of being the first of my children to break a bone. We thought for sure it was going to be Josiah! Congratulations, Hannah! 🙂
We left Saturday morning, and didn’t get 20 minutes down the highway when the front right tire decided to call it quits. As you can see, the tread split open but the tire didn’t lose air pressure. That enabled us to limp to a service station, which was good as there was no spare tire in the van that we were borrowing!
Ashley’s been getting her hours in for her driver’s license. She’s doing a good job! I took the picture of Josiah a couple of months ago–not a good situation, the preacher’s kid trying to bust open the offering box! :-p Last but not least is a recent heading from our weekly newspaper that got quite a cherchuckle from us all! A big “oops” for sure on the editors’ part! 🙂
